Cuernavaca

CUERNAVACA is located in the state of Morelos some sixty miles south of México City. Cuernavaca is known as the "City of Eternal Spring". It is very modern city with a definite Mexican flavor, and since Aztec times has been a favorite vacation and weekend retreat. Cuernavaca is a word in Nahuatl, originally Cuauhanahuac , which means 'close to the trees'. Cortes built a palace here in 1526, and now it is a museum. Many famous historical people, like the Emperor Maximilian and his wife, have lived in this beautiful city. The climate is wonderful - average year round temperatures are from 70 to the 80's during the day. Winters offer sunny and dry weather, the summer months often bring evening showers.

Instituto Chac-Mool is located in a residential area of Cuernavaca, walking distance to a variety of shops and businesses such as laundries, internet cafes, gym, restaurants, pharmacies, and grocers. From the Spanish school you may walk south to the commercial center of town (including zocalo and historical sights). For those not wanting to walk buses are frequent and inexpensive.
